How Ready Are Students For Live Learning Online?

In the last few decades, education has evolved dramatically. Classroom-based the benefits of online coaching classes have been replaced by online learning techniques that incorporate the flexibility of pre-recorded classes and class sessions that are held using real-time videoconferencing software. Even these online methods might not be sufficient for students who prefer a classroom that has real-time interaction.

Live online learning is a great alternative strategy to other online learning strategies. It permits instructors and students to communicate in real-time through videoconferencing programs like Zoom. The classes provide students with the opportunity to ask questions, dispel confusion, and gain more understanding of the course material.

While live learning has numerous benefits, some students may have difficulty adjusting to the type of online learning that is offered. This study examines students’ readiness for online learning and identifies the most important factors that influence this. The results show that motivation for learning, self-directed capability and online communication are the most significant influences. Researchers also carried out a post-hoc assessment and multi-group analysis to compare gender differences in undergraduate, graduate, and sub-degree students. It was discovered that postgraduate students have higher ability to perform in all aspects of live learning as compared to undergraduate and sub-degree students.

It is recommended that instructors set clear expectations for what students are expected to know and do prior to, during and after during a Live Session. It is essential to provide additional materials, such as summaries and gist quizzes. Also outline, concept maps, and study guides are beneficial. Additionally, instructors should create activities that build on what the students have learned on their own, for instance, by studying, practicing, debating and analysing.
