My mother was sick with cancer and she asked me if I would try to get sober one more time. I had been in programs before, but I had never really surrendered. I never accepted the fact that I couldn’t use any mind altering substance ever again.

For those in early recovery, they get substance abuse and mental health treatment through the private New Beginning Recovery program at Clear Recovery Center. This formal treatment is helpful, as addressing mental health is our key focus. Creating structured programs allow our young men to gain independence, learn life skills and create a network of support while working towards a life they love. Our structured sobriety programs, compassionate staff, supportive community and decades of experience support young men and their families at every step on their path to recovery. I was introduced to New Life Warehouse (NLW) by my wife, five years ago, when the mission was still being run out of Stephanie’s garage. Even then, it was clear that this ministry was powered by compassion, faith, and a deep commitment to helping others.

Once house members reach the vocational phase, they’ll go to work as scheduled. They are able to take advantage of the accountability the program provides. Additionally, the staff is aware of all comings and goings, and available to assist with any difficult situations that arise. Our sober living environment provides the benefit of sober housing and an engaged and attentive community providing support and mentorship. Last but not least, it can include support for developing life skills, as well as vocational and job support to academic guidance. The New Beginning Recovery model involves the family and helps our residents develop lifelong relationships.

Everything from traditional college programs to professional certifications and trade schools, we help support each young man to identify, pursue and achieve their dreams. In March 2023, Jada Fiorentino graduated New Beginning Recovery of Hope as a resident. She was so thrilled with the new direction of her life and grateful for the program, so she made a commitment to give back. Each student is assigned an advisor upon entering the program. Dominic is the Manager at New Life West, and  is a graduate of New Beginning Recovery himself. We Help Families Start Over

We then personally deliver the furniture to their homes and help set all of the items up, from rugs to pictures on the wall. We provide age-appropriate Bibles for everyone in the home. It is a gift to be able to share God’s blessing with those in need. House members draw strength from each other during and long after their stay at our sober living homes. We are much more than just a sober living home with members who are friends–we are a family. In 1994, Perry separated the age groups and opened a second sober living house for men in the Torrance, California area to accommodate the older adults. New Beginning Recovery’s success in working with young men began to take off once the guys began living with their own peers. I almost convinced myself that this was just the way my life was going to be, these were the cards I was dealt. Then in September 2022, I was arrested for a violation of probation. I was court ordered to a recovery residence where I began to thrive and build my foundation and grow my relationship with God. I got to a point where I truly believed that type of life was the only one I deserved to live. No matter the cost to myself, my loved ones, my son, or my parents. I was completely miserable and thought there was no way out.

He has continued to travel and grow his life as a career painter. In the early 1990s, many families of teenagers and young men approached New Beginning Recovery to help address their son’s addictions. At the time, long-term, sober living resident services for teens and young men in Los Angeles were unavailable. Soon after admitting the younger people, certain things became apparent.

New Beginning Recovery has helped young men stay sober for over 35 years. We came from very humble beginnings, and would love to tell you our story of success and recovery.
